Woodblock type.

As the type factory will include a lot of the history of typography, as well as the contemporary typographical work, I thought I should have a look at the more early methods or creating typography and let this inspire my work.

Other than letterpress, the first thing that came to mind is woodblock. The indentation and the old worn effect that it leaves behind.

I had a go at creating the worn effect digitally on photoshop.

It didn't turn out as good as I had expected. It doesn't convey the clean and simple image I originally wanted.
