The Digital Milk Round - Banner

Bridget decided she liked the first banner the best. So here it is:

Not my favourite, but it's simple and gets straight to the point.

I don't like the different fonts used, but it was a mandatory requirement so wasn't much I could do. I just think it makes it look a little cheap.

Because this was only decided yesterday afternoon, Bridget was unable to get all the sponsor logos at a higher resolution. I did my best with the rest but some are going to be pixelated.

If I'd had more time I would of gone over them myself in Illustrator. It's really bugging me but just one of those things I guess.

I made sure I let Bridget know about this.

"Hi Bridget,

Please find attached the preferred banner.

I've added in the high quality logos and did my best at the others. I can say for definite the 'Leeds media' and 'the chamber' logos will be pixelated.

Thanks,

Heather"

"OK – there is nothing we can do about that..

I am unable to open this file so I will forward it directly to the printer with my fingers crossed!

Thank you very much Heather – That was a good job – well done

Bridget"

I'm not sure why Bridget couldn't open the file but I checked it before I sent it so it should be fine.

Anyway, it's been sent to the printers.

The Digital Milk Round - Banner

I've found this really hard. It was tricky to get a layout where it would look ok repeated on the other side. I tried to make a few of them link together and even had a go at treating it as one image but still having the same information on either side. It was really difficult when Bridget obviously has a image of what she would like it to look like.

I sent Bridget 4 different treatments. One being pretty much exactly what she had asked for on the sketch, along with a few others that were a little more creative just to see what she thought.

The Digital Milk Round - Sketches

Bridget sent me some sketches to base the Banner and Posters on.

More range for the Digital Milk brief.

"Hi Heather,
I need some more materials for the Digital Milk Round event please.

1.       A banner to wrap round two sides of the folly outside the front door of the college announcing The Digital Milk Round event next Thursday / Friday.  Could we meet in reception to discuss this banner at lunchtime by any chance?
2.       A range of posters to welcome people to the building and to help them find their way around.
 Many thanks

Bridget"

Shouldn't be too hard to do. I have the designs so it's just adapting it to fit the different formats.

The Digital Milk Round - Finals.

These are the finals for the digital milk round.

I made further adjustments to the e-flyer body text and map. Also added the sponsor logos.

I'm pretty sure this is finished now and will be sent out.

The twitter background in use:

It definitely took it's time but I think we got there in the end.

The Digital Milk Round - Edited once again.

"Hi Heather,
thanks very much.
I think I still would like the background to FEEL more splashy. Have a look at the images I have attached and the link above.
Could the icon be one big splat a bit more like the 'splodge' attached?
I really like the layout of the flyer and the colloquial style of the map. Again, could you add a splash or splodge!
Tomorrow morning I will confirm the list of sponsors and I will also get you the list of industry sectors.
Thanks again, I think we are nearly there.
Will you be in college tomorrow?
Bridget"

When Bridget originally said she wanted the background more like milk I thought she meant she wanted it like the logo.

So, I've redone it:

E-flyer:

Twitter background:

Twitter icon:

She did, however, like the logo.

"This logo is absolutley great.

We will go with this

Bridget"

The Digital Milk Round - Edited again.

The logo:
E-flyer:

Twitter background:

I made the twitter background a high resolution as it needed to be suitable for all screen sizes. It was a little tricky to get right but I tried it out on my own twitter (on my 13 inch screen) and it seemed to work ok.

The Digital Milk Round - Feedback.

"Good morning Heather,

We have had a look at the designs you submitted. Everyone smiled! Could I ask you to make the following small changes please...........

1. We like the 'logo' with the dripping milk throughout the text better than the one with the enlarged 'g' with 'ears'. It was the dripping milk which made us smile so spontaneously.
2. Could you please make the Twitter back ground look more like splashed milk than like cowhide - I think that would be more eyecatching and would follow the theme of the logo more closely.
3. Please remove all the body copy from the Twitter background leaving only the logo, the event date and a tag line such as 'Are you the cream of the crop' or 'have you got the bottle?'
4. Please make an icon of a white splash on a black ground for Twitter use
5. Ammend the map to make it clear that the event is being held at Leeds College of Art.
6. please amend the e-flyer background to reflect the'splashed milk' theme.

I hope to email all the information out by the end of Monday so please email me with any changes throughout the weekend - I will check my inbox regularly.

If you need an instant response - please text me on _ and I will go straight to the email if I can.

kind regards

Bridget"

The Digital Milk Round - Feedback.

The reply from Bridget:

"Good morning Heather,

Thanks very much for these ideas. I think they have great potential and you certainly made me smile!

Attached is the copy prepared by the marketing department. Could you please paste this in and return it to me before 11.30?

I see you have already included some logos to indicate sponsors. I fear there may be a very long list of sponsors for this event including:

University of Leeds
Leeds Met
Leeds College of Art
Leeds Digital Festival
Marketing Leeds
Holbeck Urban Village

I will confirm the list and send it on.

Once again, thank you very much; I think we have something good to work with here. Three will be more feedback after a lunchtime meeting.

Bridget"

It made her smile which is promising!

I have sent them back with the prepared copy included. Just waiting to see whether they want to take my ideas forward or not.

The Digital Milk Round - Edited.

With the copy prepared by the marketing team:

I have added the copy to the twitter background, but felt that is was much too complicated and contained too much information.

I have done another where I limited the text which I feel is a better way to approach it. The rest of the information can be displayed where the "about me" bit is. But obviously it's up to Bridget.

The Digital Milk Round - Proposals.

What I've sent to Bridget:

Fairly happy with it to say I did it in a day.

The Digital Milk Round - Twitter background & e-flyer development.

The Digital Milk Round - Logo ideas.

I've been finding this quite difficult. The imagery I was sent was very childish when this is meant to be aimed at post-graduates. I've been trying to add a little maturity but it's proving difficult.

I'm hoping it becomes a little easier when doing the twitter background and e-flyer.

Live Brief - The Digital Milk Round

This is the brief I was given by Bridget:

"Here goes.

On Friday 12th November, Leeds College of Art will host an event which forms part of Leeds Digital Festival. http://www.leedsdigitalfestival.com/

This event is a recruitment / talent scouting event known as ‘The Digital Milk Round’. ‘Milk Round’ is a well known expression in larger Universities and refers to the practice of National and multi-national companies recruiting undergraduates direct from universities by putting on recruitment events between October and Easter. They want to grab Britain’s best talent at the earliest opportunity by promoting themselves direct to the undergrads.

WE are inviting 20 Digital Creative companies in the region (Yorkshire and Humberside) to come and promote their businesses to 3rd year Digital Creative undergrads form Leeds Met, University of Leeds and Leeds College of Art. The undergrads get the opportunity to see/ listen to 20 company presentations about ‘what we do’ and ‘why we would be a great company to work for’ and have speed-interviews with company representatives.

Here is some imagery to get you thinking. The copy is being produced by Marketing at the moment and I will pass that on before the end of the day.

Bridget"

Here are the images I was given:

Followed by:

"This will be an entirely Digital publicity campaign.

We need
· an e-flyer to attract undergrads

· background wallpaper for a twitter site

· a logo for use on signage and digital application forms.

Bridget"
