Rationale (200 words)
Typography driven, branding and identity design applied to both print and digital media.
Though I want to concentrate on branding, I don’t want to limit myself to just logos. I want to keep that range option open.
I want to create some great logos and apply it to a range of stationary.
I want to create publications with great layouts.
I want to design promotional material such as posters, signage and websites (or general electronic delivery).
Statement of Intent (200 words)
I want to improve InDesign skills in order to learn more about typography and grids.
I want to explore and use different print processes in order to show my understanding.
I want to develop my web design skills in order to fully understand what’s possible when designing for web.

Brief 1
Branding
Design the branding, identity and stationary for 5 companies/freelancers of your choice.
1. Produce the branding and stationary for freelance Interior Architect, Anthony Rimmer. (Live brief)
Anthony Rimmer is a new graduate from the Interior Architecture course.
His designs revolve around ‘bringing the outside in’ and he has a large interest in green/sustainable design. He wants this to be incorporated into his logo.
2. Produce the branding and stationary for a graphic design studio called ‘great’.
Great is a design studio based in the heart of London. They specialise in branding but also do the odd publications and exhibition graphics.

LCA
Re-design the LCA (Leeds College of Art) logo and propose a website.
Leeds College of Art is one of the most exciting colleges for art, design and the crafts in the country. They are small and friendly enough to offer a uniquely focussed learning experience.
Having been around for the last 160 years, they need bringing up to date.

LCA Exhibition
Jason Munn has an upcoming exhibition at the Leeds College of Art.
Design an identity for the exhibition and apply this to leaflets, posters and signage.
California based graphic designer Jason Munn started The Small Stakes in 2003 and it has since become a successful independent design studio, producing nationally and internationally commissioned work in a range
of print materials, including book covers, album packaging, t-shirt designs, screen-printed posters, and illustrations.

How magazine (live brief)
Design the logo, cover and 3 page spreads for the designer’s magazine, How.
Founded in 1985, HOW Magazine provides graphic-design professionals with essential business information, covers new technology and processes, profiles renowned and up-and-coming designers, details noteworthy projects, and provides creative inspiration.
HOW Magazine is now accepting entries in it’s annual Logo Design Awards. It doesn’t matter if your logo was created for yourself, for work or just for fun…we want to see what you can do! So take this wide-open media and run with it.
