I like the idea of having the front cover stretched around the back, meaning it would cover the spine and be seen whilst on a shelf. It would also mean if someone had a collection of all the issues they would sit together well. This is definitely something I need to consider.
I could also achieve this by having just the band extended to the back cover.
I want to stay away from having large central block colour text as it is similar to what they have already.
