How magazine - Logo development.

I like the idea of having a texture or some sort of image for the logo. I'm not sure how it would work for each issue though.

Maybe a different image for each issue depending on the subject? I think that would be a little too complicated though so I tried to think of an image appropriate to the magazine in general.

With it being a designers magazine, first thing that popped into my mind was pantone swatch books.
